Some
of
the
prettiest flowers
are locked
or barred
or sometimes
simply hidden:
behind fences
windows
walls and other...
barriers.
Where one can but
glimpse their
beauty -
sense
their
perfume
and imagine
- with some
dread -
how soon they'd. . .
wither
when plucked and . . . shrivel
when placed in
that
pathetic
substitute
for the wholly Earth
that
is the vase
upon a
table.
But
simply seeing
a shy and
growing flower
can
surely
- and daily -
warm the heart of
all
those who
are fortunate enough
to stumble
upon its
path.
. . . and one can always
and forever
hold the
flower
in the heart.
